Barcelona claimed UEFA Championship League 2011 title after beating Manchester United 3-1 in the memorable final at Wembley Stadium. Barcelona’s goals were scored by Pedro, Messi and Villa. MU’s scored by Wayne Rooney. All three Barcelona’s goals proved their superiority over MU when holding the ball. MU’s possession was far less than Barca’s.
MU managed to hold Barca in the first 15 minutes, and had a couple of chances for scoring goals. But after 20 minutes of play, Barca’s player started to play their trademark possession football, double their passes over MU statistics. Once they’re on the roll it’s just a matter of time before goals coming. The first half ended 1-1, after Pedro’s goal was quickly responded by Rooney’s goal.
Overall the final is a bit one sided in the second half. MU’s players were losing their confidence and frustration grew as their opponents keep passing the ball around with very high precision leaving no chances for the opponent to take possession. MU players employed zonal marking, but they left too much room for Messi who scored from outside the penalty box with a powerful strike. Villa’s goal were also from outside the box. One thing in common, Van der Sar seemed to have problems with shoots to his left side.
Messi is a very talented player, and he was awarded MOM award for the game. Congratulations Barca! What a great soccer! MU should not feel ashamed as their only lost in Champions League 2011 is in the final game, and to a better team. At least for this time.
Manchester United claimed the Barclays Premier League Champion for 2011. Barcelona claimed the Spanish League Champion. Next, both team will play for UEFA Champions League 2011 final on 28th of May 2011 at Wembley Stadion, England.
Both teams are doing great in their country league. Barcelona is the most impressive team with its short passing aggressive gameplay. Manchester United shows great mentality to achieve whatever they intend to. After struggling in the early season, Man Utd is consistently improving their play. Javier Hernandez completes the line of MU striker, essentially replacing the on fire Dimitar Berbatov by the end of the season. By the way, Berbatov is still the top scorer in Barclays Premier League this season.
Barcelona is very impressive. The attacking football they consistently play is one of the best in the world. With talented midfielder such as Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta, both played for Spain in the last World Cup Tournament, Barcelona performs the best football ever seen today. Lionel Messi is the central forward who has above average individual skill and is operating in the Barcelona frontline. Supported by David Villa and Pedro, they complete the three striker formation. At the defensive line, Carlos Puyol and Gerrard Pique stand as the best central defender in Spain.
Man Utd also sports balance team from the frontline to the back. Javier Hernandez is usually plotted as a single striker, with Wayne Rooney as supporting second striker but plays a little deeper in the midfield. The midfield is controlled by Michael Carrick as defensive midfield, and Ryan Giggs as playmaker. Sometimes Park Ji-sung is played to switch role with Giggs. Both can play as winger also. Antonio Valencia is another winger and sometimes is played as left defender. Nani is another winger that can suddenly fire long shots. The central defenders in MU defense line are also very strong. With Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand in the central defender position, MU suffered very few goals this season. Patrice Evra and Fabio also play well this season.
Overall this year Champions League final has been predicted since semifinals matches. This is a dream final. Who will get the 2011 Champions League title? May the best team win! Let’s watch a great soccer game!
